tips_and_updates Additional Advice
- Choose sites in low input, semi-natural habitats with small catchments, unconnected to other water bodies, aiming for diverse pond types near other freshwater habitats.
- Manage only part of the pond at any one time, preserving existing habitat (leaf litter, logs, woody debris). If multiple ponds, vary management plans to maintain diversity.
- Obtain a wildlife licence if the pond contains a protected species.
