Remove all livestock from eligible grassland next to a watercourse during the autumn and winter months (usually early October to mid-March) to improve soil structure and reduce water pollution.

You must remove all livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, ponies, horses) from the land during the autumn and winter months, typically from early October to mid-March, and maintain a written record of grazing activity.

This action must be performed annually for the 3-year duration. If the start date is too late, you have up to 12 months to begin. In the final year, continue until the end of winter or the action's end date.

description Evidence Required
You must keep written evidence that land entered into this action is prone to waterlogging, compaction or poaching. You can use the soil management plan produced for CSAM1 or SAM1 for this if it identifies this.
You must also keep the required written record of grazing activity.
You must supply this evidence if we ask for it.
