PRF1: Variable rate application of nutrients

£27.00

per hectare · yearly

format_list_bulleted What to do

You must apply all major nutrients (N, P, K, Mg) using variable rate application (VRA) equipment. The equipment must be either pre-programmed with data from soil/crop testing or linked to a crop reflectance sensor.

schedule When to do

This action must be carried out every year for the full 3-year duration of the agreement.

checklist How to do

You have flexibility in how you complete the action, provided you adhere to the mandatory requirements and work towards achieving the action's aim.

description Evidence Required

You must keep evidence to show what you’ve done to complete this action, such as:

  • invoices for zonal soil testing and analysis
  • the ‘variable rate file’ uploaded to the VRA equipment
  • an ‘as applied’ VRA record at a land parcel level
  • field operations at a land parcel level and associated invoices
  • contractor’s invoice if you use a contractor to do this action

If it’s not clear that you’ve done this action in a way that could reasonably be expected to achieve its aim, we may ask for this evidence. You must supply the evidence if we ask for it.

tips_and_updates Additional Advice

Guidance is provided on how to conduct zonal soil testing using grids or soil scanning, and how to apply nitrogen with VRA equipment using either pre-programmed data or real-time crop sensors.
