CIPM4

CIPM4: No use of insecticide on arable crops and permanent crops

£45.00

per hectare · yearly

info Summary

Do not apply any plant protection products containing insecticide, including seed dressings, on an arable or permanent crop from sowing until harvest.

format_list_bulleted What to do

Do not apply any plant protection products containing insecticide, including seed dressings, to one commercial 'cash crop' from sowing until harvest. Herbicides, fungicides, and plant growth regulators are permitted.

schedule When to do

For arable crops, the action must be applied to at least one crop sown in each of the 3 years. For permanent crops, it must be applied continuously for the 3-year duration. A crop must be sown within 12 months of the action's start date if an arable crop is already growing when the action starts.

checklist How to do

The method is flexible, as long as all requirements identified by a 'must' are met and the action's aim is reasonably achieved.

description Evidence Required

You must keep evidence to show what you’ve done to complete this action, such as:

  • field operations at a land parcel level and associated invoices
  • photographs or other documentation

If it’s not clear that you’ve done this action in a way that could reasonably be expected to achieve its aim, we may ask for this evidence. You must supply the evidence if we ask for it.

tips_and_updates Additional Advice

Check product labels for insecticides. Herbicides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, and molluscicides are permitted. Consider alternative IPM approaches like creating habitats for pest predators (using actions like IPM2, AHL1, AHL4) or companion cropping (CIPM3).
