You must keep evidence to show what you have done to complete this action. If it’s not clear that you have done this action in a way that could reasonably be expected to achieve its aim, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) may ask for this evidence.
You must supply the evidence if they ask for it, including:
- habitat impact assessment reports
- evidence of culling activity and cull numbers using [the cull effort form], supported by photographs, when requested
- any bank statements, receipted invoices, consents, or permissions connected with the work

- Refer to Forestry Commission’s operations note 59 for woodland management.
- Lethal control by shooting is only for damaging or invasive non-native deer.
- Ensure you have the correct licence for shooting deer during close seasons or at night, referring to Natural England’s guidance.
- Comply with relevant legislation and good practice, including the Deer Act 1991, UK Firearms legislation, food regulations for carcases, and the Deer Initiative best practice guides.
