info Summary
The RP1 grant provides funding for resurfacing field gateways to create a strengthened surface, reducing surface runoff, soil erosion, and water pollution, particularly in areas targeted for water quality improvements. This capital item also helps protect and improve biodiversity.
format_list_bulleted What to do
- Excavate the full width of the gateway by the full length of the gate (when open at 90 degrees) to a depth of at least 150mm or a naturally occurring hard surface.
- Remove excavated soil from the gateway area and spread it on field track verges (allowing for drainage), ensuring it's not spread on environmental or historic features.
- Overlay the excavated area with a geotextile membrane.
- Fill with aggregate (hardcore) to a consolidated depth of at least 150mm, or until the new gateway is level with the existing track.
